Benefit of Metal Braces

Stainless steel wires and brackets are still the norm for metal braces. These are highly effective and durable. Although braces have a reputation for being bulky and uncomfortable, modern versions prove that this doesn’t have to be so. New innovations like self ligating brackets from American Orthodontics used here at Holt Orthodontics have made braces more discreet, effective, and comfortable.

Will Metal Braces Change My Appearance?

It is also important to know that metal braces do not have to be conspicuous or ugly! With our innovative brackets we can straighten your teeth with minimal distraction from your smile.

Misaligned, spaced, or crowded teeth are more than just a cosmetic concern. They can also increase your risk for certain dental and oral diseases. With misaligned teeth, you are at a higher risk for tooth decay and gum disease. For these reasons, it may be a good idea to find out whether orthodontics can help you.

Depending on your needs and your treatment, you can probably bank on wearing braces between 6-18 months.

Orthodontic Services

Braces

Braces consist of brackets attached to the teeth and connected by wires. These components apply consistent pressure to gradually move teeth into the desired position. Orthodontists periodically adjust the wires to ensure continuous progress.

They offer significant benefits for both children and adults. They not only enhance appearance but also improve oral health by correcting alignment issues. Properly aligned teeth are easier to clean, reducing the risk of cavities and gum disease.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are custom-made orthodontic devices crafted from transparent plastic. They are designed to fit snugly over the teeth, exerting gentle pressure to move them into the desired position gradually. Each set of aligners is typically worn for one to two weeks before moving on to the next set in the series, each slightly adjusted to continue the progression.

The primary appeal of clear aligners lies in their discreet appearance. Unlike traditional braces, they are almost invisible, making them an ideal choice for individuals who want to improve their smile without drawing attention to their orthodontic treatment.

Surgical Orthodontics

Surgical orthodontics, also known as orthognathic surgery, is a type of orthodontic treatment used to correct severe cases that include bad bites, jaw bone abnormalities, and malocclusion. Oral and maxillofacial surgery is one of the nine recognized dental specialties, and it focuses on treating complex craniofacial cases that involve the mouth, jaw, face, and skull. If you need surgical orthodontics, your orthodontist will work with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon to ensure that you receive the best care possible.

What are Clear Braces?

Invisalign, or clear braces, are clear trays that are computer-designed to shift the alignment of your teeth along your jawbone. Unlike traditional braces, the trays are almost invisible. During meals, you remove them, so there are no dietary restrictions during your treatment period.

The average treatment duration ranges from six months to a year. During that time, you will receive a new set of trays approximately every two weeks. Each tray works to shift your teeth into the correct alignment gently. Trays are worn 20 to 22 hours per day while you perform your regular daily activities. Cleaning is also easy as you remove the trays to clean them twice a day. Brush your teeth in the usual manner, after meals, on waking up, and before bed.

There is no disruption to your daily routine, and most people will not even realize you are wearing braces. Unlike traditional braces, there are no clips, wires, or retainer headgear. You may have to wear a retainer following your treatment to make sure that your teeth remain in their new positions.
